There’s a moment in change that we don’t talk about enough. It’s that space between what was and what’s yet to come. That uncertain, messy, uncomfortable middle ground.
When the old way no longer fits, but the new way isn’t clear yet. It’s like standing on a bridge, looking back at familiar ground while trying to make out what lies ahead.
Why Is It So Uncomfortable?
Change isn’t just about stepping into something new, it’s about letting go of what was. Even if that ‘what was’ wasn’t perfect, it was known. And there’s comfort in the known.
The in-between is full of uncertainty, questions, and waiting. It’s the part nobody prepares you for because no one knows how long it will last or what it will feel like.
The Truth About the Inbetween
It’s uncomfortable because it’s a space of not-knowing. Not knowing if you made the right choice, not knowing what the future holds, not knowing who you’re becoming.
In my own experience, it’s okay not to have it all figured out. It’s okay to feel unsteady. The in-between is where growth happens, where real change takes root.
Resting in the Uncertainty
At The Rest Method, we talk about rest, but it’s not just about slowing down. It’s about finding a way to be okay with not having all the answers.
We don’t talk about this enough because we’re always trying to fix things, to solve the discomfort, to find clarity. But sometimes, rest means sitting with the uncertainty, letting it be messy, letting it be real.
Embracing the Inbetween
What if, instead of rushing through this space, we simply allowed ourselves to be there? No quick fixes, no perfect plans, just being present.
Because this inbetween space, as uncomfortable as it is, holds possibility. It’s where new beginnings take shape. It’s where you discover who you are becoming.
It’s okay to not have it all figured out.
We don’t talk about this enough. But maybe we should.
Because you’re in the process of becoming. And that’s enough for now.
